Job Description


BASIC FUNCTIONS: Vulcraft Canada West is seeking applicants for the position of Production Supervisor. The Supervisor will be responsible to lead the production department, while working collaboratively with other divisions, to achieve the desired results in safety, quality, cost, productivity and profitability related to the manufacturing of steel joists and metal deck. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Responsibilities also include hiring, training, and development of teammates to achieve their full potential. Daily responsibilities include setting production line-up, punching tags, distributing paperwork, daily production reports, weekly time cards, tracking and maintaining employee records for performance, attendance and safety and help on the line as time allows. The Production Supervisor must personally demonstrate the values that make up the Nucor culture. 



  • Strong understanding of equipment and processes required to manufacture joists and metal deck.
  • Teammate must be in “Good Standing”.

    • Problem Solving and Judgement/Decision Making – Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options in order to choose the most appropriate solution.



  • Previous Nucor leadership experience.
  • Successfully lead or participate in a safety team.
  • Successfully lead or participate in an improvement team.
  • Good working knowledge of our processes and computer programs (SAP, Microsoft Office, etc.)
