Job Description

PURPOSE:
Manage overall Regional Detailing Center and detailing services so that work assigned to the location is properly detailed and coordinated with customers.  Coordinate detailing requirements with branches and placing to ensure project and customer needs are met.  Supervise/train new detailers, supervise detailers and ensure performance standards are being met.  Lead location to achieve enterprise goals, including leading safety culture and culture of continuous improvement and growth.
 

BASIC FUNCTIONS
• Must adhere to Harris Rebar’s safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate leadership consistent with Harris Rebar’s vision and values.
• Lead location to achieve enterprise goals, including leading safety culture and culture of continuous improvement and growth.
• Manage the recruitment, hiring, orientation and training of new detailer employees and support personnel.
• Oversee the productivity and work quality of the detailers to ensure quality, efficiency, accuracy of detailing and to ensure project management and coordination to meet branch and customer needs.
• Oversee and assign all detailing work for (the location) to an appropriate detailer so that detailing can be done efficiently and in accordance with customers’ delivery needs.
• Price and negotiate the detailing cost of projects with requisite Branch and oversee tracking of costs for duration of project.
• Oversee pre-detailing planning meetings for all projects
• Communicate with Branch to secure projects for detailing as needed to maintain production utilization levels
• Review all extras and changes to contracts; coordinate with branch to ensure proper communication and documentation with customers with regard to such changes.
• Review all customer back-charges on contracts detailed; coordinate with branch to ensure proper communication and documentation with customers with regard to such charges.
• Manage the performance appraisal process and recommend appropriate salary adjustments as needed for all detailing personnel; oversee succession planning process.
• Keep apprised of any technological developments in detailing methodology and equipment, and make appropriate recommendations to management so Harris Rebar can detail as efficiently and effectively as possible.
• Coordinate detailing backlogs with other Regional Detailing Centers
• Produce reports as requested by management.
• Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
• Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting issued from an accredited school or college, or equivalent
• At least ten years of experience as a rebar detailer or equivalent industry experience with at least six years of experience with the Harris detailing system (Rebar CAD) or other CAD based detailing system
• At least three years of experience as a supervisor of detailers

PREFERENCES
• Two year technical degree from an accredited school or college
• Experience in customer relations and resolving problems or disputes
• A basic knowledge of contracts, standard business practices and human relations
 

SELECTION CRITERIA
• Effective skills in communication, motivation, performance evaluation and customer service
 

SPECIAL DEMANDS
• Work schedule may include hours beyond the normal business day
• Occasional travel may be required, including overnight stay
• Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding personnel situations and certain customer and management information.
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Typical office activities
• Walking, sitting, standing, bending
• Using hands to operate objects, tools, computers and other electronic equipment
• Lifting/handling computers and related equipment
• Vision abilities including close vision and adjusting focus
