Job Description

BASIC FUNCTIONS: Vulcraft Canada West is seeking applicants for the position of Technical Supervisor. The Supervisor will be responsible to lead the division’s Design Engineers, Detailers and Shop Order team. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing employee training, providing performance appraisals, mentoring and coaching, recruiting and managing the design, detailing and shop order schedules, as well as performing project design as required. The Technical Supervisor is expected to control and supervise all engineering processes, ensuring we meet or exceed all applicable specifications and standards, and guaranteeing our customers a safe and accurate product while protecting the interests of both our customer and Nucor Corporation. The Technical Supervisor must personally demonstrate the values that make up the Nucor culture. 

 PREREQUISITES:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain Professional Engineer designation within 1 year of appointment.
  • 5 years (minimum) of engineering experience in a related field.
  • The ability to travel to the United States when required.

Identifying the developmental needs of others to include coaching, mentoring, teaching, training, or otherwise helping others to improve their skills to work effectively and to reach their full potential.
  • Problem Solving and Judgement/Decision Making – Strong ability to analyze and think strategically to find solutions to unique problems.

 PREFERENCES:

    • Engineering experience in steel joists, metal deck or steel fabrication and erection.
    • Previous leadership experience.
