Job Description

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Site C Dam is an early-stage project of BC Hydro for a large-scale earth fill hydroelectric dam on the Peace River near Fort St. John in northeastern British Columbia, Canada. The site is downstream from the existing W.A.C. Bennett and Peace Canyon dams. Designs call for an estimated peak capacity of approximately 1,100 MW, average output of 680 MW, and an annual output of 5,100 GWh of electricity. When completed, Site C will be the first large dam built in BC since 1984 and BC's fourth largest producer of electricity.

PURPOSE Lead Detailer for project Site 'C' Clean Energy GSS project located in Fort St John BC. Lead Detailer will be responsible for all aspects of detailing project and will have direct oversight of multiple detailers, from project start date to final completion. LD will work directly with General contractors and design engineers to produce Auto Cad Placement drawings that meet a strict criteria required by BC Hydro. Lead Detailer must have considerable knowledge and will be responsible to meet submittal deadlines as outlined in project schedule. Cultivate a positive customer service environment while maximizing profits for Harris Rebar.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Demonstrate leadership consistent with Harris Rebar’s vision and values along with strong Safety culture.
  2. Review contract documents/drawings and coordinate detailing efforts to ensure that we supply products and services in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
  3. Provide total contract management of each project, including coordination of the detailing, scheduling, delivery and costs of products and services utilizing the company business system, industry standards and other company resources.
  4. Oversee efforts to ensure that Harris Rebar fulfills contractual obligations on the assigned project(s).
  5. Coordinate project requirements with the contractor’s representative as well as with the rebar installer, engineer and/or architect using Harris Rebar’s contract management guidelines.
  6. Schedule the detailing and delivery of required products and services with the contractor, detailers, and Harris Rebar production staff as needed.
  7. Review changes to the project to determine their scope, ensure the accuracy of same, and then process the appropriate documentation in accordance with the company’s change order procedures.
  8. Assist in the change order process culminating in the acceptance of the change order by the customer.
  9. Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to appropriate staff, workers, and customers.
  10. Represent the company in project meetings as needed.
  11. Work with Detailing Manager to help control the financial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interest and simultaneously maintain a good relationship with customers.
  12. Formulate reports concerning such areas as work progress, costs and scheduling.
  13. Perform other duties as requested by the Branch Manager.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
  • At least 5 to 10 years experience in the reinforcing steel industry and/or demonstrated construction project management experience, Hydro Electric experience is preferred
  • Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously and manage time/meet deadlines
  • Effective leadership skills; ability to coordinate projects
  • At least 3 years experience as a detailing supervisor
  • Experience in the construction industry with strong mathematical skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Ability to apply ACI codes and CRSI standards
  • Experience in customer relations and resolving problems or disputes
  • Possess critical thinking skills and have the ability to use all applicable tools
  • Effective skills in communication, motivation, personnel evaluation and customer service
  • Basic knowledge of contract law, standard business practices, and human relations

  

SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Preferably relocate to Fort St. John
  • The project is projected to begin in September of 2018 until October of 2022
  • Protective equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, etc. must be worn when on the worksite
  • Work schedule will be 6 days 10 hours a day. 40 Hours at regular pay 20 Hours x 1.5
  • Living Out Allowance or Camp will be provided
  • Flights in and out on turn arounds to be paid by Harris should applicant choose to stay in Camp
