Job Description


Bend, cut, bundle, and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer's orders. Machine repair, maintenance and trouble shooting. Assist the safety team in the design, development and/or installation of machine guards and safety devices. Advise Branch Manager in machine purchasing and installation.



  1. Demonstrate conduct consistent with Harris Rebar’s vision and values.
  2. Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
  3. Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
  4. Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape.
  5. Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
  6. Operate Fabmatic machine that cuts and bends reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
  7. Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
  8. Operate power saw for cutting reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths.
  9. Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.
  10. Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.
  11. Assist other employees in any of the above tasks.
  12. Perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and optimum functioning equipment, systems and processes.
  13. Troubleshoot, repair, and modify equipment to maintain workplace safety and production efficiency.
  14. Generate parts lists and labor time estimates for maintenance and repairs.
  15. Train key shop teammates on new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment.
  16. Maintain repair records.

Job Requirements


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have basic math skills to be able to calculate bar measurements
  • Minimum two years’ experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Effective verbal and written communication



  • Two year technical degree from an accredited school or college would be an asset
  • Training in electrical controls, welding and rigging



  • Extended hours may be required
  • Travel may be required
  • Must be familiar with and adhere to Harris Rebar and OHSA safety standards



  • Heavy lifting may be necessary
  • Working conditions may be noisy, dusty, hot, cold
