Job Description

Harris Rebar is currently looking for a Safety Coordinator that can assist the Operations and Branch Manager to achieve safety objectives of the branch.


  1. Demonstrate conduct consistent with Harris Rebar's vision and values.
  2. Act as a resource for safety related issues supporting the operation and branch managers.
  3. Monitor compliance with legislated standards.
  4. Use personal experience and training to assist all crews in hazard identification.  Conduct and document regular safety inspections.  Conduct regular interviews with shop Teammates to determine and confirm their understanding of Harris Rebar’s Code of Safest PRACTICES.
  5. Take corrective action directly with foremen, superintendents, teammates, or General Contractors if a safety concern is observed.
  6. Monitor medical visits and follow ups, attend every appointment with injured teammate. Complete and track all reporting.
  7. Ensure that superintendents and foremen complete thorough injury / near miss incident reports, including taking photographs, teammate and witness statements.
  8. Administer new hire safety orientations for new teammates.  Audit reporting of orientation program.
  9. Review Investigation reports, environmental incident report, medical or first aid cases, and reports of damage to property or equipment to verify that corrective action has been completed.
  10. Monitor/participate in the investigation of safety observations, near miss incidents and accidents. Recommend corrective action to prevent recurrence.
  11. Organize safety seminars for management and production staff.
  12. Maintain records, including electronically maintaining training records.
  13. Promote Health and Safety, lead by example.
  14. Perform other duties as required by your supervisor.

Job Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of industry experience preferred or an active safety related role
  • Knowledge of Occupation Health & Safety Act and Provincial H&S Standards
  • Ability to work as a team member on projects with an aptitude for problem solving
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Able to manage time effectively and prioritize responsibilities
  • Effective verbal and communication skills
  • Must be Fluent in French
