Job Description

PURPOSE:  Establish training and development program for Project Management and supervise the management construction projects including the detailing, field operations, contract claims and sched-ule with the customer.  Ensure proper communication of Harris Rebar and customer needs and identifi-cation of project related issues.  Oversee all project related activities from award of the contract through all phases of work until completion.  Identify, communicate and solve our customer’s problems and cultivate a positive customer service environment while maximizing profits for Harris Rebar.  Fos-ter teamwork and a one Harris approach with all resources (branches/detailing/field/third-party) that are supporting the project.
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Demonstrate leadership consistent with Harris Rebar’s vision and values.
2. Work safety and attend all safety related meeting advocating for Harris.
3. Establish a program with the Branch and Regional Manager to train, mentor and develop construc-tion/project managers to oversee the detailing, scheduling, supply and installation of reinforcing steel for customers in accordance with project specifications and contracts.
4. Review contract documents/drawings and ensure proper coordination detailing, fabrication and field efforts to ensure that Harris Rebar supplies the materials and services in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
5. Work with customer and Harris Rebar service team (detailing/fabrication/field) to arrange critical path, submittals, pour sequences and deliveries. Order Rebar shipment and coordinate delivery to designated locations to assist/benefit placing production while attempting to maximize full loads for delivery efficiency.
6. Ensure excellent communication among the Harris Rebar team (detailing, shop, field, management) and customer.  Proactively engage with field on communication on scheduling, critical path and ma-terial and labor needs.
7. Provide total contract management of each project assigned, including coordination of the detailing, scheduling, delivery and installation of material and products and services.
8. Monitor weights claim by field daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly etc. and track the progress of the work in relation to agreement requirement and schedules. Tracking actual to planned progression (schedule variance).
9. In conjunction with the Field Superintendent and Foreman, manage daily and weekly request for manpower and critical path.  Attend meetings to understand and document the original baseline schedule, overall updated schedule and 3 week forecast schedule
10. Oversee efforts to ensure that Harris Rebar fulfills contractual obligations on the assigned project(s).
11. Coordinate project requirements with the contractor’s representative as well as with the shop, field, engineer and/or architect.
12. Review changes to the project (including added work scope, delays or accelerations in schedules) to determine their scope, ensure the accuracy of same, and then assist in the processing of the appro-priate change notice documentation. Oversee the change notice process culminating in the ac-ceptance of the change notice by the customer.
13. Review field extra work orders and coordinate with field and customer to resolve EWOs.
14. Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to appropriate staff, workers, and customers.
15. Establish yourself as the one point of contact for our customer and address ALL issues pertaining to the project.  Make yourself available to the best of your abilities while the worksite is open and our customer and the additional trades are working.
16. Represent the company in site project meetings as needed.
17. Ensure that Branch Manager and, as requested, other company leadership (field, detailing, etc.) are aware of any significant contractual, scheduling or other customer service issues.
18. Perform other duties as requested by the Branch Manager.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
• At least 10 years experience as a construction project manager, construction field supervision and/or equivalent demonstrated construction project management experience
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Concrete construction experience
• Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously and manage time/meet deadlines.
• Effective leadership skills; ability to coordinate own and others’ actions
• Experience in the construction industry with strong mathematical skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills necessary
• Ability to apply ACI codes and CRSI standards required
• Experience in customer relations and resolving problems or disputes
• Possess critical thinking skills and have the ability to use all applicable tools
• Effective skills in communication, motivation, personnel evaluation and customer service
• A basic knowledge of contract law, standard business practices and human relations


SPECIAL DEMANDS
1.  Occasional travel/ job site visits will be required.
2.  Protective equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, etc. must be worn when on the worksite.
3.  Additional work hours may be required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Lifting/handling computers and related equipment (typically not more than 25 pounds).
• Vision abilities including close vision and adjusting focus
• Moderate noise level at job sites. Common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glass-es, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, etc. must be worn when on site.
